Primary Care Paediatricians from the Slovenian Paediatric Society under the auspices of Primary Health Care Committee of the Medical Chamber of Slovenia, together with experts from other fields, prepared the first national Guidelines for children’s and adolescents’ screen use.

In recent years, paediatricians and other professionals at work have increasingly encountered children and adolescents with various problems due to the inappropriate use of devices with screens (screens). Preschool children stand out in particular, as they have deviations from an early age due to inappropriate use of screens. Addressing this extremely topical issue requires unified and professional guidelines. Therefore, Primary Care Paediatricians from the Slovenian Paediatric Society under the auspices of Primary Health Care Committee of the Medical Chamber of Slovenia together with experts from other fields prepared the first national Guidelines for children’s and adolescents’ screen use. They were created based on research results and consensus of many experts, following the examples of guidelines from abroad. The document received widespread support from various professional organizations.

The guidelines are primarily intended for all professionals who work with children and adolescents in education, health care and other professional services. The aim is for all professionals to work in a coordinated and uniform manner. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of time constraints, the appropriate use and quality of selected content that children and adolescents monitor through screens.
